ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC - Brenda G. Branch was the first Female African American appointed as the Chief District Court Judge in Halifax County, NC on August 1, 2008.  Judge Branch was appointed by Chief Justice Sarah Parker. 

Judge Branch earned an undergraduate degree in Justice and Public Policy from NC Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount, NC, in 1994. She earned her Law Degree from NCCU’s School of Law Evening Program.  She graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree in 2001 while working full time.

Judge Branch is married to George Branch and they have a Daughter and a Son.  She is a member of the Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, NC.  At her Church, she is active with the Youth Choir, Praise Team, Sunday School and Community Outreach Adult Missionary.
